Is it necessary GOST Certificate for my products?

    E x p l o s i o n - P r o o f   GO S T   R   C e r t i f i c a t i o n     :

The main difference between ordinary GOST R Certificate and Ex-proof GOST R Certificate is; basis on Explosion Proof requirement, there is a special marking (Explosion Proof Class) and additional Expertise Conclusion on the Ex-proof GOST R Certificate.

Considering that; the rules of the Physics are the same in all over the world, Russian requirements are the same as in western countries for ex-proof equipment.

Legal basis for Ex-proof equipment certification is "Rules of certification of electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres" (PB 03-538-03), This Decree published by Russian Governmental Standards with No:28/10 and dated 19.03.2003.

Technical base of Russian Ex-proof standards is depending on IECEx System standards, in the same time ATEX 95 and ATEX 137 Directives of European Community and other European Norms related with these directives.

In general, Ex-rated equipment are used in atmospheric conditions which contain extremely explosive gas, vapor or dust. These kind of environment are accepted as hazardous areas.

Oil Refineries, Oil and Petro-Chemical Industry, Mines and some other Industrial Areas which designed and marked as hazardous area in the drawings are required the usage of Ex-proof rated Equipment, and for them Ex-proof GOST R and RTN (Rostechnadzor) Approval should be obtained in Russia.

Mainly, these equipment are :

• All Electrical equipment which are used in hazardous areas; such as electrical devices, switches, sensors, other distribution elements,

• Measuring Equipment which work with electrical power consumption including low-voltage,

• Automatic Controlling Systems,

• Connection Elements; such as junction boxes, cable glands,

• Wireless Systems,

• Telecommunication Equipment,

• Electronics,

• Actuators, Valve Controllers,

• Non-electrical equipment; but because of the movement potential ignition resources.

In principle, systems are very similar, however, Ex-proof marking are slightly different.

Grouping: Mining Equipment called Group I and Ground Equipment (Indoor or Outdoor Use)  called Group II in the both systems.

Ex-proof Protection Levels: This marking is different, in the ATEX System for surface equipment protection levels 1,2,3; in GOST EEx System 0,1,2.

Ex Marking : The same. In ATEX System, additional "E" indicates that, this equipment conforms CENELEC Standards and may used as EEx. 

Protection Type : Russia accepted the same letters as ATEX; for example :
"d" means ex-proof encapsulation, "ia" means intrinsically protected and category a.

Temperature Class : Marking is the same(T1 to T6), however, we should remind that; Russia's colder conditions may require increased Ex-proof property, such as resistance of  -40 or -50 C.

If the applicant already have the ATEX Certificate, the work can be done without sample testing and will be easier by means of documentary work.

	Factory Visit (Only for 3 Years Serial Production Certification)
	Issue of Ex-proof GOST R Certificate + Expert Conclusion issue
	Application to ROSTECHNADZOR and issue of RTN Approval

If the applicant DO NOT HAVE the ATEX Certificate, the work can be performed only by sample testing in Russia, also documentary work should be completed.
